Your questions
There are various residence permits for intra-group mobility:
- “ICT Posted Worker” card (Intra-Corporate Transfer): for the temporary posting of a manager or specialist.
- “Talent – Employee on Assignment” card: for an employee on intra-group mobility holding a position of responsibility in France.
- “Talent – European Blue Card”: for highly qualified profiles under certain conditions.
A foreign employee wishing to obtain a work contract with a company in France must verify the following points before considering any mobility or change of status:
-
Have a work contract with a company belonging to the same group abroad.
-
Meet a minimum seniority requirement (usually 3 months for a posted worker and 6 months for a transfer).
-
Be hired for a temporary assignment (posting) or a permanent transfer (mutation with a work contract in the host entity of the company in France).
The company in France must submit an application for a residence permit to the prefecture or via the online platform dedicated to employers and provide the required documents (work contract, proof of intra-group affiliation, evidence of skills, etc.). The employer must comply with salary obligations (working conditions and remuneration must conform to French standards) as well as social and tax regulations (the employing company must declare the posted worker to URSSAF via SIPSI). In the case of a transfer, the employee is subject to the French Social Protection system. Finally, the employer must assist the foreign employee with their integration and settling-in (housing, banking procedures, etc.) as well as their administrative follow-up (renewal of the residence permit if necessary).
